  1. just give it time and we will get it back.Tíocfaidh ar lá!!!

  2. I think it is a question of numbers, the catholic community is increasing, as shown in the results from the last three census.

    CENSUS HISTORY

    Protestant community

    2001 - 53.1%

    1991 - 58%

    1961 - 63%

    Catholic community

    2001 - 43.8%

    1991 - 42%

    1961 - 35%

It looks likely with the catholic stance on contraception that there will come a time when the catholics will be be in a majority.

If at this point the population have continued to vote along religious lines, which they mainly do now this majority will be able bring it about politically.

However the population in the Republic would have to agree to this union.  I think it possible they could decline unless the protestants and catholics are getting along a lot better in the north as they do in the south.

  3. Most feel no because now Northern Ireland is too industrialized like UK.  Also unemployment is high in Northern Ireland the Republic is concerned about how the economic issues in Northern Ireland will affect the Republic

  4. Yes I believe it will, I could be wrong but I thought that things were on the improve over there?

  5. Hopefully, one day. Depends on Parliament

  6. the people of the republic signed away any opportunity we had of ever uniting with northern ireland when we overwhelming voted in favour of the good friday agreement on April 10th 1998

i for one would hope the north and the south would never unite as long as the killings and bombings in northern ireland are at an end, 94% of my fellow countrymen and women in the republic felt the same way when voting for the agreement
