The U.S. Geological Survey estimate show that offshore drilling won't make an impact. Please look at the chart & read the article before you respond.

  1. If anything, the only benefit I see coming from it is increased US consumer confidence.  It is within our means to consume 1 million LESS barrels of oil per day right now with fuel alternatives and more efficient vehicles.  Hybrid cars are already out on the market, and they work.  Buy them.  Lower your heat by 2 degrees.  Inflate those tires.  Make sure your vehicle is running at optimal efficiency.  Turn off lights when you don't need them.  These simple things will help us in the immediate future, while the government waddles to find a path for us to pursue.

I'm not for drilling in any capacity as I don't see it as the right solution, but if its role is minor in a comprehensive overhaul of the current US economic oil dependence, then let's stop arguing and get it done.

  2. They may say that it will have only a minimal impact, but even that is good enough for me. Increases in supply will push down prices, and the independence from foreign oil will bolster the US economy and increase money supply, making it easier to purchase gas at its current prices. Also, pushing through energy changes in the form of an off-shore drilling bill is never a bad idea. In the long run, off-shore drilling will help more than hurt, and if it is available, I say go for it.

  3. If it makes us less dependent on foreign oil then I'm all for it.  Why do we continue to transfer our wealth to the leaders of countries that would like better than anything to see us dead?

  4. Of course not.

They fed us the same BS when the pipeline was being built.
