we have a female fixed cat. (so she's not in heat

). she has ALWAYS been very VERY timid around people...but not our other male cat. they have always gotten along. we got her when she was a kitten, and just assumed that her parents were outdoor/barn cats, and that is why she doesn't like people. anyway. she got out about a month ago. she was nowhere to be seen for about 2 weeks. we thought she was GONE. now, she has shown up again...howling at our house. mornings and evenings and night. she sits outside our house and howls...assumingly to our other cat. we realize she misses him, so we have tried closing the windows at night, so she can't smell him. to no avail. she is disturbing the neighbourhood, but every time we go outside to try and retrieve her she runs away like her tail is on fire. we have NEVER abused our animals, and we have always treated them like one of the family, so she is not scared for that reason. she wants to be an outdoor cat. got it...now...how long will she keep howling at the doors? should we try to get her and drive her to a farm or a giant field where she can be free to roam and howl wherever she wants? will she EVER stop howling? we'd love to keep her, even as an outdoor cat, but the howling is driving our family nuts! HELP!

  1. i have a female fixed cat that cry's all the time all you can do i find the place that she loves to get massaged or pet mine loves her shoulder rubed

  2. maybe putting food outside for her she will get to trust you so you can touch her and pet her, and maybe then let her meet your male cat again because that is probably who she is really missing and just wants to see.

by what you are saying i have partially have gone through this experience, we had a cat that was mostly an indoor cat at our old house but we would let her outside if she wanted to go out. but when we moved to our new house something happened and she never wanted to come into our new house or let us pet her and touch her. so we had a cat door to our garage where we fed her because that was the only place she would go. but finally one day i saw my cat outside of my house so i went out slowly and just sat down on my porch and saw if my cat would come to me.she did and she loved being pet but was still timid around me and so every so often i would go outside and sit and she would come to me getting to know me better so soon i could walk up to her and just pet her. but she never came back inside but she liked me and my family a lot more, until she got old and sadly passed away.

  3. Please don't dump your cat somewhere-that's so cruel.

Call your local animal control or other shelter and see if they have a trap you can borrow.  And, then keep her inside.
