Will painting an accent wall in my living room cause it to appear bigger or smaller?

I want to paint an accent wall in my living room, however, I want the living room to appear bigger. Will the accent wall help with this?

NO! have to keep it plain in order to make it appear larger. Not plain, but nothing that is going to jumble the room up

A dark or bright color will hurt, a very pale warm color will make it look larger.  Cool colors bring things closer, warm colors make things look farther away.

it depends on what color you paint it, but usually it makes it look smaller. a trick to make it look bigger? a big wall-sized mirror. always does the trick!

don't do that cuz the only thing it will do will draw your attention, it won't make it seem bigger

instead of painting it an accent color...go for hanging up a large, beautiful painting instead
