  1. Pet insurance isn't true insurance.  There isn't a standard form.  And it's not regulated.

You're going ot have to read each policy, to see if any of them will cover - and if they DO cover, how much they'll cover.

  2. I believe most reputable pet insurance companies are state-regulated.  Check the website of your state of residence to be sure.

It's likely that if you know of a problem, that your policy (if your purchase one) will either have an exclusion of a pre-existing condition -- or it will have a waiting period in which you won't be covered.

It's really important to find out before you sign up if your intended policy will actually cover what you are concerned about.  I would be frank with them and see what they say before buying a policy.  Perhaps, since you do not have a diagnosis yet, it would not be considered "pre-existing".  This would definitely be worth a phone conversation with companies you're interested in before purchase.

  3. You'd have to read the policy and/or talk to the company that offers it. Without seeing it, nobody here could answer your question with any certainty.

  4. I would think if you already purchased this "pet insurance".

To go out after the diagnoses and buy it now is I feel to late, but give it a try. Ask questions.....
