  4. You shouldn't need to take a prenatal vitamin if that's all you're looking for. Just take a calcium supplement and a vitamin E supplement. You can also look for nail-strengthening polishes, the Sally Hansen ones work great.

    The thing about prenatals is that they also typically have a lot of iron, which for some people can cause constipation (hardly a fair trade off for nice nails and hair). Plus, pregnant women get great hair partly because of hormones which tell the body not to shed hair as quickly or as much as usual. The nails thing is typically a side effect of more calcium.
