  1. i would bet that once Obama wins the white house and ends this bull **** war in iraq gas prices will go slightly down, i think the low $2 or high $1

  2. You think you got it bad!! you wanna try living in the UK!

  3. a new pres can afcet it if there are willing to go after the gas companies about there [price goudging, but go down to where it should be no, they are making to much money off of it.

  4. Only after alternative fuels like E85 start to become serious competition to the big oil companies.

The president or war has nothing to do with it.

  5. Go back down to what? They go up and down all the time. Will we ever see $2.00/gallon again? Probably not.

  6. Its not the war or the president that has the biggest effect on prices. Its a little thing called "supply and demand". The supply of a limited resource like fuel goes up as demand goes up. As the weather warms up, people are driving more. The more people drive, the more demand there is for fuel, the more the price goes up. That will never change.

Big oil companies are not keeping fuel prices up, nor are the guys in the desert nations with most of the oil. The average consumer is doing it to themselves. Alternative fuels and alternative consumption vehicles already exist and can be had by the common shopper, but the common shopper isn't buying them.

E5 is 95% gasoline with 5% ethanol mixed in and nowhere near as much of a solution for our fuel woes as its fans would lead us to believe. Biodiesels are much better for the environment as is SVO (straight vegetable oil). However, biodiesels require you to wait for big oil to decide to produce them, SVO is available now and only requires a conversion kit applied to your vehicle. For more on the kits check out http://www.greasecar.com/

Instead of waiting for big corporations to get on the bandwagon with biodiesels, you could eliminate the wait by converting your own vehicles to run on SVO (straight vegetable oil). Both SVO and biodiesels are better for the environment than fossil fuels, help reduce America's dependency on foreign oil, use vegetable oil as their base or feed stock, and can only be used in diesel engines. However, SVO won't clog on cold mornings, is cheaper than biodiesel, and burns cleaner.

So in short, the price of fuel will go down when consumers change their buying habits and move into the future without waiting for big oil to do it for them.

  7. I hope they do but I guess in the meantime, I will ride my bike.

  8. They will fluctuate up and down, but the long-term trend will be up (just as with all other products).  The war and president have nothing to do with it.

  9. presidents aren't affecting fuel prices...

they will continue to fluxuate, but never really go back down consistently..

EDIT: marvin, fuel companies make less profit than the national average, there is no conspiracy...

they are publicly traded companies, look up their profit reports, stock reports, and other financial information online...

  10. Hey,

Yeah when a new president, and when the war stops.

  11. Unless we find an alternate fuel source and do away the the trusts between auto manufacturers and gas companies.

  12. The number one problem in the world is greed. The oil company's in this country and every other country are made up of big wig board members that are only worried about who gets there pockets filled fastest. Of coarse Bush has his own oil wells so he's not worried anyway even if he could do something. Its kind of funny that the oil company's in the united states haven't built a refinery in over 30yrs. And with the fighting going on every where and the United States being hated in alot of country's well we just don't have a chance.

  13. Yeah, blame W. for everything.

Gas prices have been going up ever since I've been driving, and that's a LOOOOOOOOOng time. (it was 27 cents a gallon back then)

  14. when they drop the taxes on gas

  15. the war means nothing...they are pumping the same as before it started,,,a new president?? how much oil does a president drill....people who blame oil co's are fools...take away the profit and see how much they will invest in drilling... china and india are adding millions of cars every year while USA and europe are about the same....more cars,,,same amount of oil...bad for the future price..
