  1. you should get in touch with a rescue to take it.

It could be illegal to let it go. As said if it is not a native turtle it could cause harm to native turtles.

Also being kept in captivity it's used to its food being right there and not having to hunt for it.

No do not let it go.

Do a search for turtle rescues and see if they can help you find a new home.

  2. It could get rushed by the flowing water so maybe, but you weren't planning on it were you?

  3. Daisy S is right. If it is a Pet turtle do not let it go in the wild. It will surly not have developed the skills to survive. But if it came from the wild and can be found where you live then it should be okay. Find out, specifically, what kind of turtle it is. Some water turtles live in/near rivers, some don't. And different land turtles like different kinds of habitats. (wooded versus rocky, or grassy).

You could just see if your local pet store will take it.

  4. dont put a pet turtle in a river there are tons of people that are probably looking for a pet turtle and have little money and will more than happy to take it off your hands check local ads or whatever its really unfair to put it in a river when there are people willing to take care of it .

  5. If its a water turtle u can put it in.....

Bt if its not DONT....it'll die

  6. It depends on where you live, and what sort of turtle it is.

  7. i go canoeing on rivers all the time and have seen tons of turtles there . it will be fine!!!!

  8. DO NOT RELEASE THE TURTLE!

Red-eared turtles (and several other species) have become established pests in many parts of the world, where they disrupt native ecosystems, due to ignorant pet keepers.

If your turtle is suffering, euthanize it. This could have been prevented if you had gone to the effort of researching proper pet care.

  9. if its a baby turtle then it will die if its a turtle 9 inches or more then it has a chance of survival

  10. firstly is it a turtle or tortioise? two completely different things... turtles swim in water and a tortiose walks the land and doesnt swim...

  11. no. its usually where they live

  12. I agree see if you can get someone or a local pet store will take it... It wont know how to survive... all those other turtles out there were born knowing if yours was bought from a pet store it will only harm itself or the other turtles/environment

  13. Not a river. A pond stream or lake would be ok but not a river.
