I would like to go back to college in order to work on my masters' degree. I would only take one three-hour class once a week. Would putting my 9-week old daughter in the campus preschool one day per week for 3-4 hours, damage her psychologically?

  1. No. It could actually be good for her to be around other children & babies her own age.

  2. this is not a pregnancy question

  3. I don't think most campus day cares take babies who are that young. I'm sure it wouldn't damage psychologically her though.

  4. Nope. I work with children from newborns to 10 year olds and they all have fun with their friends and enjoy the social time. It may take a few months for your baby to actually notice her peers but when she does she will love the attention from kids her own age. if you were asking to leave her there for 12 hours i would say no but 3-4 hours is less than what the average kid has to stay so it will be fine!

  5. To answer your question honestly, it depends on your child. If your girl is well socialized, I don't see why it should be a problem. It will only be problematic if your child has issues with seperation anxiety, which is unlikely, at this age. Most reputable childcare facilities should in fact, have trained professionals to deal with such issues.

    HTHs!Take care!

  6. If the preschool is well-staffed, clean, safe and cozy I see absolutely no problem with this. Your daughter is too little to have much (if any) separation anxiety. She might just sleep the whole time, anyway. I admire you for working on your master's with a baby around! I have no kids and can't seem to get the motivation to go back yet.
