if i study abroad too much like in japan asia and europe for more than once, does that mean that i can not go to a good college like harvard princeton and stanford? will it lower my grades in school..............

  1. Yes and no. Studying abroad can enhance your education because high schools and colleges in Japan and Europe better prepare students to succeed than American high schools and colleges including the top-notch schools you mentioned. Many European and Japanese school systems have been in place before America was established as a country. In addition, colleges and employers look at study abroad programs as a symbol of tolerance and cultural experience that are the key to success in international business and relations. In fact, students who study abroad in high school have an easier time getting accepted into colleges, and those who study abroad in college have job offerings from top-notch employers. Participation in study abroad programs also increases self-confidance.

    However, there is a downside. You can not go abroad to study medecine and expect to come back to America to start your medical career. Some American high schools will not accept study abroad credits even though they encourage studying abroad.

    To answer your question, studying abroad does not lower grades in school, but you might have work to make up from when you were out. After studying abroad, my grade point average when from a 3.5 to a 3.8 (B+ to A-) and my class rank went from 61 out of 313 to 53 out of 313.
