I'm looking to buy a case of 1000 rounds of 7.62x39 for my SKS. But, my local range does not allow bullets that will attract a magnet.

I hear these bullets are copper cased with a lead core, but also might attract a magnet??? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

  1. People think that because of the steel case.

    They are lead core

  2. I believe you should check with your range master to see if they are talking about bullets ( the thing that flys out the muzzle at high velocity) or cartridges ( the case, bullet, primer and powder, all pressed together in one neat package).

Seemingly, they must be talking about steel cases. They more than likely collect the brass and sell it for scrap and therefore want no steel cases mixed in ( this would cause a lower selling price).

If they are talking about bullets... they do not know what there talking about.

Remember copper and lead are not magnetic so...

    Happy shooting!

    Joe

  3. If you are talking about the Wolf Gold, it is actually made by Prvi Partisan and is there is no steel in the jacket.

If you are talking about standard soft point steel case Wolf, there is soft steel in the bullet jacket.  No Wolf has a hard core, it is all lead.
