I currently have a 08 GXSR - 750 and hate the stock exhaust. I was wondering if removing the stock exhaust and simply placing an exhaust tip/cone would make a diffrence in sound?

  1. mags is right do it the right way. although I think you can install a slip on without making any modifications.

  2. depends on what you remove...but if you remove the muffler, it will definitely be louder...but you will also lose back pressure and lean out your fuel mix...you will have to re-map your EFI

i'd suggest you bite the bullet and buy a new yoshi exhaust or 2 brothers

  3. First off you will void out your warrantee if you do that. Second, with this new speed mode controller thing, there are some serious tweaks that will have to be made to accomodate the swap. it's not like the older bikes where you can just throw a can on to make it loud.

The cans on these new ones suck but they are specifically engineered for that bike and it's settings.

Just swapping the can has more cons than pros. Think long and hard about this one. You will need to install an exhaust and have the correct modifications performed by suzuki. I say by suzuki because this performance mode regulator thingy is such a new technology, I wouldn't trust joe blows cycle shop to mess with it.

  4. Magz's response is right on.  Removal of any of the stock exhaust inners will greatly effect the mid-range of your engine.  You'll notice a slight sputter when taking off.  The solution is to rejet the lower carbs to a size smaller.

    Good luck!
