  1. I don't know. Do squats and lunges. They will.

  2. The only time I feel like I'm working my butt is when I attack/sprint on a hill and stay down on my aero bars. Assuming you're not riding a tri-bike, you'll probably never feel like you're working your butt, but in general everything is going to tone and firm up, you just wont feel it.

  3. It will if you have the time to ride at least 75 miles a week for a year or so.  When you ride you do use your butt muscles, they are the biggest set of muscles in your body.

  4. it will give you a great workout on the upper part of the legs and somewhat on the butt, lol

  5. It hasn't lifted or toned mine.

Seriously, no, your glutes aren't exercised much by biking.

  6. You will definitely burn calories and that will help.  You don't have to cycle for strength in high gear.  To get a better toning workout try "spinning" just drop to a lesser gear and then up the rotation rate.  It works on the excercise bike the same as on the road!

Good luck - really there is no finer site in the world to a cyclist than a well-toned female rider!  I can't wait to see you in the bike lane!

OK seriously - you can do this and if you can incorporate bike riding into your life - say as part of your commute then you will not only reap the benefits of good health and a killer bod, but you'll save money and time!
