Will robots eventually take over the world?

Question

I don't mean as a tool to help humans. I'm thinking "take over" as in "become the next dominant group". (Could they be considered a race if they do take over?) They can't procreate as living creatures can, but they could multiply themselves by building more robots.

                           Robots are man-made and you know very well that the man is powerful enough to destroy . whatever it may be.   So, don't worry. TAKE A CHILL PILL............

Think of how necessary they are to life now. If they all stopped working, we would be in very bad shape.

Probably not, unless we are dumb enough to put them in charge, as in The Terminator movies.  Isaac Asimov had the best idea.  Robots were programmed with the Three Laws of Robotics.

1.  A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.

2.  A robot must obey orders given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.

3.  A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

Yes, but it would take years of research to grant them the power to. Humans can reign over the world because we are blessed with the power of imagination, the ability to create what is not there. When we program robots that can run freely around, like those of iRobot, we will program them to not hurt any humans, save the life of any human, and obey any human.

They serve the ultimate purpose to help humans in every way possible. However, we may be imaginative but they have the power of super fast calculations. Humans wage wars, humans deplete resources unnecessarily.. etc etc. Robots know this will mean the end of the human race but without imagination, the program will stop them from doing anything to harm(but actually helping) humans.

Imagination is the ultimate power, and second to it is speed of thinking, he who possesses both reigns.

Robots can take over the world, but only because they want to save humans.

well i suppose they could take over our lives, cos we use technology in everything, but they cant take over the world. they are controlled by humans, so we would have to make them take over world... right?

why would they even want to take over the world?

Only if they are ever built to have the ability to learn and adapt as well as or better than we humans can.
