Will roof tar fill asphalt driveway cracks?

Will it stay soft and gooey and make a big mess? Can I sealcoat after applying the roof tar? The drive is moderately cracking in a few spots. Thanks.

If the crack is not more than 1/8", yes, it work good but it takes a few days to dry, so sprinkle some sand on top to avoid the mess. Anything wider, you should get the asphalt repair mix. You can seal coat it after it is dry.
