Will running also help your abs?

I'm starting to run 2 miles everyday will it help my abs too?

  2. Yes! You flex your abs the whole time you run, which will make them tighter. And you're burning off the fat that covers your stomach. Diet and cardio (running) are the 2 biggest factors in getting a 6-pack.. situps/crunches are a distant 3rd. I've known many distance runners who had 6-packs and never did a situp or a crunch.

  3. Running will help get rid of the fat over your abs ( rectus abdominus) so you can see the deffinition, but won't do much to make them stronger.  It will help strengthen the obliques on the sides of the abs more.  But if you just worried about appearance it will help.
