I recently started running, but I find it boring as h**l -- after like 5 minutes I'm constantly watching the timer. Will it get easier?

  1. Listening to music, running on beat, getting a playlist with a good beat. Music has helped my running a lot. Other than that, I'm glad to have a heart rate monitor, lets me know that I need to slow up when I'm gaining on my max heart rate or when I need to push myself harder.

I also set my goal before I start. I know about how long it'll take me, where I'm going. I don't just start running with no goals because I don't know when I'm getting close to the end. It's a great feeling to realize you're 400 yds to the end, footsteps get lighter, you straighten up and you want to finish hard. Setting little goals along the way is nice too when I start struggling. Almost to the down slope, almost to the bridge, etc.

  2. I find that the only thing that keeps running from getting boring for me is that I'm actually good. ;)

    Try another activity. ;P

  3. h**l NO...i was running the other day..i was on the 6th mile and i was like...WTF am i doing............THE WAY TO MAKE IT NOT BORING IS GO ON NEW RUNNING ROUTES LIKE IN THE WOODS OR IN THE MOUNTAINS

  4. well maybe run with a partner or iPod?

i know it won't get any less boring...

    or maybe competition?

  5. non, eh non

  6. The answer before is correct, go on new track, its makes in funner. You also need a want to do well, just keep telling yourself, this is going to make me a lot better runner. Getting nike + ipod shoes are great, because it will tell you how much calories you have burned, plus play music. Its expensive, but its worth it. also watch these videos, and rember them when you run.!

  7. don't pay attention to the timne and just run, listen to music or bring a friend, running isn't boring, and you don't have to keep a steady pace all the time, run with the rythem of your music.

if you don't like runnnig after that, then i don't know to say.

  8. yes.

  9. No, I would suggest some other activity that you find less boring (ie: swimming, biking, etc.)

  10. When running, time should not be a concern, unless your challenging yoursellf

But I have to admit when I stared running it was boring at first, but you just get used to it over time.

To make things more fun i suggest you: challenge yourself by sprinting long or short distances, also challenge yourself by beating your previous record from 1 area to the next, I also suggest you get an i Pod or any other mp3 player unless you already have one.

  11. Hi

It can get much easier if you join a local running group, or club. I joined San Jose Fit (sanjosefit.com - one of many USA Fit clubs) six years ago, and got hooked. I would have never ran so much without this fantastic group of friends - from running. You'll have to run more than 5 minutes in order to develop any conversation, thus :-)

ps. this has nothing to do with my FR-305.
