Will running help to increase vertical leap?

I am 2 inches away from pulling down the rim on a 10ft hoop but i dont excercise very much. If i start to run 1-2 miles a day how much would it help to increase my leaping ability?

  1. Perhaps, but to guarentee it, don't just run slow, do intervals with hills.  You must strengthen your thighs and calves - requiring specific training.  Best way, do hills or step ups, also do some strides or sprints, and add some knee bends.  Weight drop would help too, if needed.
