Question:

Will running make my legs slimmer or add bulk to them?

I usually walk/run around 3 km a day and i started this recently...like about 2 weeks ago? I also started eating less and i just discovered i lost around 4 kg. However, i have this nagging feeling that my legs seem to be becoming muscular, not slimmer, which is not what i want. Can someone tell me whether running will make my legs muscular or slimmer? or just recommend me something else that will make it slimmer...like a diet...some exercise or whatever.

  1. initially it will reduce your leg mass, but once you start getting fitter your muscles will become more toned and build muscle.

long distance running, will make your legs slim with very little fat and muscle. where as sprints will make your legs strong and muscular.

  2. long distance running should make your legs thinner. at least thats what happened to mine.

  3. because you run your leg muscles are getting worked which

means they will get stronger. As you grow up all your muscles

will grow bigger. If you want thin legs don't exercise your legs at all!

P.S.:If you don't exercise your legs you'll be a lot weaker!

  4. Running will burn excess fat (slimmer) but after that is gone, it will build muscle (more muscular). If you have a lot of excess fat, it will get slimmer at first and then larger with muscle after hard work. If you don't have a lot of excess fat on your legs, then you will start to build muscle.

  5. Running will make your legs lose the fat and give it muscle, and in my opinon that looks good.
