Question:

Will sand stick to glue?

im doing a project and i need to know if i put glue like on cardboard and sprinkle sand, will the sand stick like when glitter does to glue? thanks.

  1. no reason it wouldn't, unless you have super sand.

  3. yes it will but when you sprinkle the sand give it a little time to sink or else it might come of and i prefer to use white glue with that not the clear ones.

  4. It depends. If you are using fine sand then of course. Thicker more coarser sand? i don't know...

Yes it will!  Use good old fashioned Elmer's White Glue.  You can even use wood glue, but the Elmers White Glue dries clear.  Lay out your pattern, then gently cover the cardboard in sand.  Alow the entire board to sit overnight.  Then pick up the board and gently bump it off -- the dry sand will fall off and the sand which was in the glue will stick to the pattern.  You can even mix glitter into the sand to liven up the sand for looks, or combine grit (large and small sand particles) for a textured look.  Experiment until you're happy.  I hope this helps you.
