Will saw dust and shavings from a cabinet shop, kill or poision vegtable plants ??

  1. Possibly, particularly from walnut.  Your plants will probably also show nitrogen deficiency symptoms.  How about composting the shavings and adding the compost to the soil?  Much better!


  2. They won't do them any good.  They might make the produce from the plants inedible.  It all depends on what kind of wood we're talking about, whether it's treated or not, and whether there are other products like varnish mixed in with the sawdust.  

    Sawdust that is not from treated wood and contains no other ingredients is a fine thing to add to a compost pile in thin layers, but it shouldn't be put directly onto plants.
