  1. There are at least four ways to use seawater for energy. One is to use electricity to split it into hydrogen and oxygen via electrolysis, a process which will always require more energy than you can possibly get from the resulting hydrogen and oxygen. Hydrogen is only a way to store energy, like a battery made out of highly combustible gas, it isn't an energy source.

The other means involve using water pressure, tidal pressure or the temperature variability of water currents to produce energy. This could produce electricity in areas near the sea, but it's a much more massive and expensive undertaking than solar energy is, especially compared to solar thermal generation. Not to mention that even mentioning building a massive power plant under the waves will provoke a hysterical response from the Greener part of the environmental movement. For them the only solution is to stop using energy altogether, not just switching to a more sustainable or efficient energy source.

So the answer is no, due to political pressures and scientific realities seawater can't be a replacement for oil.

  2. if you want to die from chlorine gas, and corrode your engine, yes.

  3. Sea water is not a fuel.  But even if you could somehow managed to rig a hydroelectric plant BELOW sea level (good luck), it would not provide enough fuel for the amount we are consuming.

    Is this a serious question?

  4. The sea waters  and the tides may one day be harnessed in such a way to bennefit  all the worlds creatures. Any thought of destroying one for the other will result in a total destruction of all. Oil is destruction. Begin Construction with the absense of oil and coal. Tailor the food crops to prevelant climates with an eye to future climate condintions.

  5. Sea water doesn't burn, so no it won't work.

Eventually, maybe we can use the hydrogen in seawater to power fusion reactors, but that seems far off.

  6. oh you guys are soo mean!

But they are right. seawater defintily wont work. but your on the right track!

  7. no you noob. if we're burning water, why would we burn the water which requires the most energy to burn?! srsly. wtf. lol

the best replacement would have to be hyrdrogen fuel cells, or bio-fuels for the minute until the hydrogen technology is better

  8. Sure, as soon as you work out that cold fusion problem and get the reactor down to a size that will fit on a motorcycle.

  9. WRONG !!! We are not running out of fuel. When the plants take in the CO2 it gives us back the O2 but keeps the C. The C here will break down into oil & gas...Look for the natural cycles like the water cycle and many others.
