Will self harming stop me from becoming a doctor? ?

i want to be a doctor when i'm older,

but i have history of self harm.

will that stand in the way?

  1. An honest answer is yes, it will stand in the way... you need to mentally be fit and in good health. But kiddo, you have a long time to get the help, support and coping skills you need to stop hurting yourself... so you do have a chance if you get the help.


  2. No it might even help you relate to similar patients but if you still do it you need to stop.

  3. No, it wouldn't stop you being a doctor at all.

    If you stopped a while ago, it's a good thing that you want to be a doctor now because you may have to face people who are self-harming and you could advise them on how to get out of the habit & maybe tell them of your past experiences. People usually feel comfortable talking about their personal issues to someone who has dealt with the same thing in the past. Good luck, hope i helped.
