Question:

Will sertraline (Zoloft) cause a false positive on a drug test?

First off, I DO NOT USE DRUGS. I have not used drugs for many months. My father ask me to use an at home drug test, so i decided to humor him, knowing nothing would come up. I was ignored all day up until now, when he gives me this speech about how he doesn't have to like my boyfriend, and I asked, why. And he stated that I had failed the test for marijuana and benzodiazepams (sp?). Sure, I have been around other smoking pot, about two or three weeks ago, but I left the room, just because I don't like it. I'm currently on sertraline, and Femcon FE birth control (a newer kind). I got my wisdom teeth pulled around June 20, even though those medications have long worn off by now. Any ideas as to why? I've taken 3 drug tests before, and failed for benzos every time. I have no idea why. My father is giving me the benefit of the doubt, and I will probably get it sent to the lab. Any help appreciated.

  1. I've never heard of zoloft doing that. It's way different than a benzo. However, if they were all home tests.....

ASK your father to get a real test. If there's a positive, they can test the sample further to confirm or not. If you're truly clean, this should (hopefully) settle your dad's concern.
