Question:

Will she become more playful?

I got a puppy yesterday. When she was at the pound she was really playful and interested in toys, but now that I brought her home she doesn't seem to care for toys at all. The main reason I chose her was because she liked to play. Is she just not playful right now because she's scared or misses her litter mates?

  1. You have to realize this is a totally different & new environment for her and it will take some time for her to get use to her new home. It could be she's missing her other buddies from the pound but give it some time..

We usually don't understand it but animals/pets are extremely sensitive to even the smallest changes, they notice everything so be patient and give her a chance to adjust. Just give her lots of love, take care of her, feed her and make her feel safe and comfortable in her new home..I'm positive you will see her go back to her playful self soon =)

  2. I think at the moment she just wants to explore.

  3. She just needs time. She doesn't understand that you are going to be the one playing with her yet. Just give her a little space and time, and toys and eventually you will have her trust and she will being playing more than you can handle. Good luck and congrats on the puppy.

  4. Yes. She needs some time to get used to her new environment. It can sometimes even take a week or two for them to get back to normal playful mode.

  5. yes, dogs usually behave that way. when they are introduced into a new environment, they are cautious and tend to explore and see everything first, before letting loose :p

i dont think you should worry. Give her a few days and shell be as playful as before. However, i have read that some dogs do fall into depression, but those are uncommon cases. I dont think your dog will go through that. have fun and good luck!!!!

  6. Give her a chance to settle in her new home. She will be fine in a few days.
