Will she gt better my 7 year old daughter has the speech of an 19 month old.?

my 7 year old daughter has severe developmental verbal dyspraxia (dvd) she is not understood by people outside of the family, she gets frustrated and lashes out, she also has poor co-ordination bad gross and motor skills. i haven't been given any straight answers but if anyone knows if my little girl will get better could they let me know. thanks.

Get better isn't the word i would use improved with time i like to use like with my son Thomas pictured left he has Autism he is also non verbal but does try to talk, we use flash cards and basic sign language, i would suggest talking to your GP about speech therapy for her also, its only natural your little girl gets frustrated Thomas is the same he does try to talk but his speech is simular to that of a baby, i would try reading her stories and get her to try and help you with words and singing we are told is also good

I just suggest working with your daughter. Do flash cards, and try to get her to speak more and more. I believe that practice will help. This site http://people.umass.edu/velleman/cas.htm... might give you a little bit more info about it that you may need. Good luck be patient and love her no matter what.

As you girl is 7 I assume she is a special needs school. Is she receiving 1 to 1 speech therapy? No one can say for sure as each child is different. But I can tell you that a consultant predation  rote my son off at 6. we were told here would never learn to speak, properly, read or write. He is Autistic and double incontinent. He is now 19 and is just starting he 3rd year at collage. He has GCSE's and is starting a IT course. He still has problems and will always be autistic. The main thing is that you love her. You must be prepared to work hard with her and FIGHT for what help she needs  as I have found over the years the more you fight for what they need the more help you will get.God Bless and Good Luck for the future.
