I decided to renovate my 46 gallon tank into a planted tank. I have 78 watts of light over the tank. I bought some flame moss for my driftwood. Will it be harmed by apple/mystery snail and ghost shrimp?

  1. i have ghost shrimps and as far as im away they never eat any of my plants, all they do it go around the tank eating the other fishes wastes and leftover food, but my plants all have big leaves so i dont know about the moss

  2. The ghost shrimp will not be a problem, the snails however will. They will eat the plants and they will overrun your tank. Those suckers procreate really fast. I would not recommend them for any tank! ALSO, if you are purchasing live plants from a pet store, make sure you rinse them off really well. Sometimes they come with snails or snail eggs, again, they will overrun your tank.

  3. Ghost Shrimp will entirely ignore both plants and algae, much preferring fish food or other meaty material.  The snails may eat a bit of it, but Flame Moss grows quite quickly and will replace its losses fast enough that it won't matter.  Also, other vegetable matter (blanched lettuce, spinach, cucumbers, zucchini, etc.) will distract the snails from the plants.

  4. i dont think they will. acording to many websites. ghost shrimp only eat fish food//shrimp food. and then snails eat the elgy on in the tank. kinda like a personal vacuum in a fish take.
