NOpe. nothing lasts forever. Soaps are dying a slow death. But after 30 plus years, they've simply run out of ideas to keep viewers interested.

I don't think they're in as dire straits as they think they are. But I do think that they need to start branching out as far as writers, and ways to get the soaps out to a broader audience. Podcasts, online blogs featuring episodes, download online at like 1.99 an episode, and possibly even create dvd's going back to the beginning to sell. If they're running out of money, which they say is happening, then they need to do something to increase their revenue, not just whine about it.
