Will solid lead dissolve in water? ?

Or will the water have lead in it just from being in it ?

  1. Depends on the water!

    Some solid elemental lead will dissolve in pure water, more if the water is slightly acidic. Even under the best conditions, 1 liter of water can hold only about 500 micrograms of dissolved lead. At that point its saturated and will hold no more.


  2. no it won't dissolve in water,

    if the water is acidic, (acid rain water), it will dissolve the tarnish of lead oxide ,... & put lead into the water,

    that's why we are no longer allowed to use lead based solder in drinking water plumbing
