Contrast the movement of energy and matter through the ecosystem. (Hint: check out the various biogeochemical cycles ie. carbon cycle, nitrogen cycle, and determine why even the longest food chains have only 5 trophic or feeding levels.)

the movement of energy is directly affected by the movement of matter on a large scale as most of earths energy comes from burning material so the matter once burnt is placed into the ground in landfills or it will all have been burnt therefore the movement of matter is far greater than the movement of electricity in the sense that more matter is used up then more is required
