  1. Both these terms have to do with balance and stability within a system. "Homeostasis" is often used in biology to refer to how living organisms regulate their internal environments (their bodies) so that it stays stable, e.g., optimal temperature, optimal moisture, optimal salinity, etc. Think of "equilibrium" as balance.
