I cant figure it out. I just started and I'm learning the dutch waltz and the canasta tango. Are these for tests or to compete?? And why is that level preliminary when the free dance's first level is juvenile. And how come i look up juvenile ice dance on Youtube and everyones amazing but thats supposed to be the first level?? So do you have to do all the dances that are like the dutch waltz and argentinian tango and whatever before you compete juvenile, senior whatever in the Free dance? So theres the original dance and the free dance and the compulsory? What!? AHHHHHHHHHHHH help me!

Thanks. Lol

  1. ok yes you start with the dutch waltz you need to test this to go to a higher level in ice dancing  the dutch waltz is known as a compulsorary dance you can both test it and compete it

a compulsorary dance is a dance with a set patern and set music you can also compete in the original dance the original dance has a certain genere of music that changes each year and a few rules about what your pattern should look like and the last of the dances are the free dances these you can only compete in higher levels like novice, jonior, and senior and you can have whatever music and pattern you like you can also compete at local competitions solo but the perpus of icedancing is to have a partner so for nationals worlds and olimpics you need a partner if you watched the juvinial solo i dont know why they looked so good but if you watched the juvinal teams they probably looked good because they have alot more elementl like lifts and spins which you cant do in solo no you do not need to compleate all the compulsarays to be able to compeate ummmmm i think that answered it all oh yeah one more thing something you want to cheack out in the summer in new york there is one of the biggest ice dancing compittitions there is called lake placeid and it is pretty much open to all levels and ages solo and partnering! :)
