I think it's pretty easy to understand but none of the existing groups interest me. Is this a free service or for pay? You should probably say either way. You may want to put a little more color into it... the white is a little boring. Don't go overkill with color either. If you are paid by sponsors make sure you get the banners up and running for clicks. Advertise the site specifically where you can attract new users. Hey, think big ... your group box could be the next My Space or Facebook.

Think outside the box ... think Groupbox!!!

The website looks fine but doesnt look fun (unless thats what you going for) I think it seems as if its for business people only. Utilise your space a bit or decrease the space then. Things too far apart. Also add some colour or change the background. Things need to be a bit more concentrated then people will read it. Add some reasons why you think people should join. Use a FAB approach! Features Advantages and Benefits!
