WEP is easiest, but it can be broken.  WPA is stronger, but is more involved to implement, and not all adapters support it.

Any encryption is better than none.  The real danger is not that someone will eavesdrop on your email to Grandma, or look at the files on your computer (not easy).  The real danger is that a spammer or kiddie p**n nut will steal your internet connection and use it anonymously, then the FBI will come to your door one day and take you away.  

Use the best encryption you can, and let the idiot down the street with the open connection host the spammers.

you can use the basic wep encryption but it's now old and there is some ways to breake it but it's still hard , u can use WPA for more secuirty.
