Will someone tell me how to jump serve?

I started 8th grade volleyball yesterday. I want to know if I'm capable/how to jump serve. I tried jump serving two days ago before practice started and I got it over about 4 times out of 15. I'm not sure if my form was right. Can someone explain to me in detail how to jump serve. I'd like to perfect it before high school so maybe I can make varsity. btw...I'm a very good player, always a starter, and I have my overhand serve already perfected. Thank you!

  1. Try this link and tell me you are getting better at it :)

The other one talked about "back spin" but really should have been "top spin" for the toss. Otherwise, both are pretty good.

It does take some time to make consistent jump serve, so be patient.

After you get the jump serve mastered, try mixing it with jump float serve.

    Have fun.

  2. 1st u need to stand about 6-8 ft away from the back line and toss the ball so it lands on the line and perfect that toss. (toss the ball with your hitting hand.)

2nd use the same toss and incorporate your approach.

    left handed:left right left

    right handed: right left right

As you bring back to toss you want to start stepping.

lastly just hit the ball it helps if you contact exactly how your used to hitting and also spin the ball when you toss and you look a lot better.

    plus practice practice practice

  3. Okay are you power hitter or middle. If you are power hitter then you need to practice with your coach or someone who can set it to you . and you need a high set because i m a 4 times MVP in my high school and the important thing to do jump serve is if you have a nice jump on your power hit then you can jump serve and try measuring your vertical jump. All you need too do in jump serve is a nice high toss and (if you are left handed) your right hand should be raised straight and with the left hand hit the ball try not to hit your tips because it will be very slow jump serve best way is to hit the ball almost like you are hitting it with the palm. Try hitting the ball with a self toss like toss it by your self and hit it or hit the ball with the right instructions to the wall and try bouncing it like a V.

  4. First you need to learn how to hit a top spin serve. Then once you have that down, it's all about tossing the ball high and out in front of you, work on the timing of the hit, similar to an outside hit where you wait on the ball a bit before striking it. You should be hitting the ball at the top of your jump and using the top spin serve to get the ball over and down on the other side of the net.

  5. stand far back from the service line, toss the ball up (with whichever hand is comfortable) in front of you with as much spin as possible and the ball should be directly in front of you about a metre or so ahead. use your spike approach, open up and swing. timing is really hard and the toss is probably one of the most important elements in the jump serve.  the serve should look somewhat like a extremely long distance spike lol, it will take quite a few tries to get and once you have the technique down focus on power and direction :)

    good luck
