  2. In the majority of states, yes, but not all. I know in Illinois is Sept. 1.

Here is a table of kindergarten entrance ages: http://www.ecs.org/clearinghouse/50/00/5...  However, it is from 2004, so if it's very important, you should check with the state or school district in which the child will enroll.

  3. It depends on the state you live in. Some states do though.

  4. It depends on the states, but most schools I know cut-off regestration on sept-20.

Which sucks since I was born the day after T.T

But I know that at least in the Southern states, Sept. 20 is the cut-off

  5. it actually doesn't only very by state, but by county and even down to by school district. we have a couple of school districts in the county in pa i live in. where i live, the cut off is Sep. 1. go 35 miles north, the cut off is June 1. go about 25 miles south, the cut off is August 1!!!!! so it really depends on your exact location, not just your state.

from my experience over the last couple of years, i've learned of a lot of school districts in PA moving their cut off dates to earlier times to give children one more year if they have like a summer or early fall birthday. here's a quote:

"Since 1975, nearly half of all states have pushed back their birthday cutoffs" (it's from the article link below)

so you'll have to contact the exact school district you live in because your state doesn't set the rules...your school district does.

here's an article with some good information about states and cut off dates for kindergarten:

here's a quote from the article:

And in contemporary America, children are deemed eligible to enter kindergarten according to an arbitrary date on the calendar known as the birthday cutoff — that is, when the state, or in some instances the school district, determines they are old enough. The birthday cutoffs span six months, from Indiana, where a child must turn 5 by July 1 of the year he enters kindergarten, to Connecticut, where he must turn 5 by Jan. 1 of his kindergarten year.

  6. In most districts in California, the cutoff for kindergarten entrance is around December 20th.

  7. No, most  cut off dates are August or September.  Our state legislature is working to back that up even more to say July!  I'm a teacher, and I DO NOT recommend anyone start a 4 year old in kindergarten.  They are usually fine until second or third grade.  Then, they'll struggle throughout the remainder of school!
