Question:

Will spreading grandpappy's ashes in the garden wreck my tomatoes?

That was his last wishes because he loved being in the garden. But we do have a nice tomato and cucumber crop and I'm not messing that up.

I wasn't even in the will.

  1. I WOULDN'T THINK SO... MAKE YOUR GRANDPAPPY HAPPY AND GRANT HIS LAST WISH.  YOU MAY HAVE A BEETER CROP BY DOING SO. IF NOT YOU'LL FEEL BETTER FOR DOING TI.

  2. I would wait until the off season. Ashes of any kind are alkaline and would change the pH of the soil. That might affect the growth of the plants. If you set the ashes out in fall, that will give the rains time to wash them into the soil and balance out the pH a bit.

  3. Spread Grandpappy...make him happy.

Not in the will?  That means nil.

  4. I would check with local ordinances before I scattered his ashes. If someone sees you do it you could be breaking the law.

If you are not breaking the law, then by all means, spread the ashes.

I would wait until you are done harvesting your garden first. Then spread them as soon as possible so gramps has a chance to enjoy what is left of a nice fall day.

You might also erect some kind of plaque to remember him by.

    Good luck!

    Al

  5. No it won't wreck the tomatoes, and don't think about the will, just do it for 'grandpappy' because that's what he wanted.

  6. Well, if anything I would assume that it would help them out. Ash, and humans in general, are worm food, which means fertilizer. So go for it my liege.

  7. What he left you out the will how dare he. And expect you to do his last wish....The nerve.

I would spread them anyway. By the way you could have left out the last part about not being in the will. It really don't matter. Respect grandpappy's last wish!

  8. Yes, It Should Be Fine.

It Was His Last Wish, You Should Do It.

It Will Make You Feel Better :)
