We haven't noticed any fleas in our house at all but somehow our puppy keeps getting them. We use advantage and it worked for a week or so and then the fleas came right back. My mom was wondering if Sevin dust would work to get rid of them outside because she already has some and wouldn't have to buy anything else. I have no idea what it is really but I'm just making sure. If it won't work or wouldn't be safe for the puppy then what could we do instead?

  1. sevin will help, but also spray a growth inhibitor

  2. Although Sevin is labeled for flea control it's really not the best thing to use and is not that effective.  As with most pesticides, it should not be used around pets and kids.  It's powdery residual effect would be tracked into the house.  Sevin is for bugs that would ingest it when eating on plant material, it's not a good contact killer.  There are better sprays in garden supply for fleas, especially good are the hose end sprayers.  But with a puppy, be careful.  Advantage (Frontline may be better) become a bit more effective over time, although I'd be sure to follow instructions for puppies.  Maybe more baths and TLC.  winter's almost here anyway.

  3. Try Tobacco leaves. I live in Tamp & they make cigars here & u can go there and buy some. It works. If u dont' live in Tampa, go on the web & search. Sevin Dust will absorb on the dogs paws & could make him sick.
