  1. Yes they will. Squirrels and rats might use the same entrance/exit and if they do, there's going to be a fight - and the squirrel has my money to win.

If the rats have a different entrance than the squirrels, the two may never meet, or they may breed faster than they can kill each other.

Best bet to get rid of them:

#1 set a bunch of rat traps. Bait them with peanut butter, Juju-bees (a candy) and beef jerky... one type of lure on each.  When you go a week or two without catching anything, walk around the whole house and seal any gap the size of a dime where mice, rats or squirrels could use to gain entry.

Use steel or copper wool (Ace Hardware), 1/4" hardware cloth and sheet metal if you need it (ask for roof flashing, it should be wide enough for most purposes). It takes a while to do, maybe a whole weekend or two if you're not that experienced, but it can be done.

Or, you can call around and find an exterminator who does it. It won't be cheap, but if they're good at it, it will last many, many years.

    Rodent problem solved.
