Question:

Will stain and varnish remove permanent marker??

im currently going over my guitar with paint and varnish, i was wondering whether or not the permanent marker will be smudged or disfigured if i put it inbetween coats, my purpose is so it stays sealed between coats and won't rub off

please i need to know soon

  1. Yes. It should. It is a solvent and will "smudge" or "spread" the marker. If you go over it lightly, it may not do this. I'd try one area and see what happens.


  2. I did just that. I was finishing a Ouija board,but didn't want to take the time to repaint the letters in between varnish coats. I used black felt pen and it turned out fine. No runs,or smears. It stayed in placed and looked better than the painted part did. Byee
