  1. No it should not.  But you should be prepared to have people strongly disagree with you. If you can take that, stand up for what you believe in.

As for me, I think Palin will set America back 50 years and if she was the only candidate I would vote "no confidence."  I do not appreciate people who try to enact laws that push their religion down my throat.  So, start your club and express your opinion, just be prepared to have others express their opinion - and you may not like it.

EDIT: Did anyone else notice how the tone of this post changed from "high school girl" to "Republican shill?"  This is why normal people should be careful of YA.  Trolls and phonies abound.

  2. In the '80s I was a white kid in high school.  I stood up and did a speech in defense of the South African government in its war against the Soviet-backed terrorists that were literally burning alive any blacks who didn't support the revolution.  Half the students in the class were black, and sure enough, I was called a bigot for exposing the terrorism that was going on in that country.  But I figured that was the price to pay for truth.

No fear.  Stand up for what you believe in and don't let anyone knock you down.

  3. It won't make them give you bad grades; that would be unethical, and no teacher would do that.  Teachers WANT their students to achieve.

But you should be more than prepared to defend your beliefs with rational, thoughtful points that reflect a reasoned response to questions you may encounter.   And be prepared to take responsibility for the quality of your work.   It won't be enough to say, "He gave me a bad grade because I started a republican club."

  4. No, don't be such an idiot. Teachers aren't so immature that they'll give you bad grades because you have different political views to them. And if they are they don't deserve to be teachers.

  5. If your club's activities don't interfere with your school work, start it.  If you have to write a paper for your liberal teacher, make sure you support your ideas, and you don't sling mud at the other side. It is hard for some teachers to accept young people's ideas because they feel you lack the knowledge and experience to make informed decisions.  Many students just parrot their parents' beliefs.  They are filled with more emotion and conviction than knowledge.

  6. Your teachers are not immature. It would be unethical for a teacher to give you a poor grade based on your extracurricular activities.

  7. Of course it will! They only PREACH acceptance, they don't practice it.

  8. Young Republicans...hahahaha...why not start something meaningful? Like an environmental club or g*y Straight Alliance? Well do whatever makes you happy, I guess. It would be against the law for your teacher to give you bad grades for starting such a club. Don't you know that?

    P.S. OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT!!!!!!!!

I won't believe a word you say until you prove it to me by giving me a link to a legible source.
