  1. Well they have this guy Vincent Lecavalier... I don't know if you've heard of him, but he's pretty good. I think he's got first line center locked up.

It all depends on training camp, if he shows hes ready for the NHL, I'm sure they'll give him a shot, otherwise they'll give him a couple months in the AHL to mature then bring him up later in the season.

Personally I think with all the hype surrounding him it would be hard for the Lightning to start him in the AHL mainly because they finished in last place last year. Fan's are probably itching for improvement, so you want the number 1 draft pick to contribute immeadiately (right or wrong).

  2. cdn24 fan has hit the nail on the head.

If Tampa Bay chooses Stamkos with their first pick and he makes the roster he will probably start on the fourth line. He will start with 6-8 minutes a game until he either shows he's ready for more or will be returned to Sarnia for another year. If he shows that he can handle the 6-8 minutes he will be stepped up to 10-12 and third/ second line duties. He may even be given some time on the second units PP and PK.

Of course all this depends on who is his coach. With proper training and coaching he will develop into a good NHL player. But I don't think that he is going to surpass many of the last dozen or so number 1's. Maybe Patrik Stefan but not likely any of the others.

  3. Stamkos will begin play on the Lightning's second line next season.

"As you know, we lost our second line center when we traded Brad Richards to Dallas. While the lines will ultimately be determined by the coaching staff once camp begins, we currently envision Stamkos (assuming he is the pick) slotting into a second line center position and possibly having Jokinen on the left side with him."

  4. Stamkos will not be the number 1 center unless the lightning trade vinny lecavalier, which would not be smart.  Maybe later in the year, or next year stamkos would prove to be a better player than lecavalier, but i highly doubt that, vinny is a great player.

Stamkos will probably be the second or third center at the start of the season.  If  he isn't and plays fourth or in the ahl, it is because he had a terrible training camp or someone else had a ridiculous one.  either way, it won't be more than a month or two before he is called up.

  5. yeah, they need somebody in the last three lines

  6. Probably, where he won't be is the AHL.  If he can't stick in the NHL as a n underage player, he has to be sent back to junior, he is not old enough for the AHL.

He will start as the 4th line center and move to the second line as the year progresses.
