I have no idea how that all works, but I know I don't have the things necessary to backup my computer. And I HAVE to do something that may crash my computer if I'm not careful. Any help please? I use XP home. I only have one hardrive.

  1. Get a USB Stick to back up everything you want to save before you do anything that may crash your computer.

Also, installing Anticrash might help you

  2. If you computer is crashing regularly, there may be something wrong that system restore might be able to fix. System Restore can't fix everything, but it can sometimes prove helpful.

System restore can return your computer to a previous date, perhaps before you installed a new piece of software or a driver for some of your hardware.

Just click Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore , and select return your computer to a previous date.

If your worried about losing data on your machine and you don't have either a USB flash drive, a CD/DVD ROM drive or similar, you can back up smaller files such as documents, spreadsheets etc by emailing them to yourself. Just write yourself an email and attach the files.

It would help if you could be specific about when your computer crashes, e.g. what program/s your using, and your system specifications.
