I know that doctors say taking antibiotics can affect the way the pill works. However I'm wondering if specifically the worming tablets are likely to affect the pill from working correctly?

thanks !

  1. I don't think they would affect the pill as the mechanism of action of most dewormers is more local whereas antibiotics are more systemic.  I would recommend taking them at different times of day to make this more likely.   I had a friend in grad school whose hubby was in med school in  a different state and the antibiotic thing was true - they had 3 children in 4 years of the pill even though they lived in different states.  You could always use a backup for those few days for extra insurance.

  2. I don't specifically know, doesn't seem like it would but what I would recommend is to use this site below and enter the exact worm med and birth control med and check for interactions.  Or you can ask the Dr that prescribed the worming tablet.
