Will team GB be known as Great Britain in 2012 now they have done us proud in Beijing?

Question

What i mean is..out of all the entries, most of, if not all of, the participating countries are proud to use there countries name... so why is Great Britain so insulted by the name 'Great Britain' that they want the world to know them as 'Team GB'...??? what other nations are known as Team ..whatever.....not team USA or team F for france..? or team I for Italy..???... so why is the great british government h**l bent on discrediting the great country of britian by not calling it GREAT BRITAIN???

Well, N. Irish athletes have a choice to be on either the British or Irish team. But due to the religous issues there, I'm guessing most side with Britain. So technically it's degrading to them because "Great Britain" only talks about England, Scotland and Wales.

i do believe in my opinion they have brought the great back into GB

are you mad? we aren't called team GB because we aren't proud its just an abbreviation,. people know it means Great Britain so what difference does it make.

duh read my answer i know we are called team GB if you carried on reading and didnt jump to conclusions you would see that

I kno that really annoys me, GR hopefully as its in london they have done us proud! loads of young athletes that are just going to get better

The US team was called Team USA.
