Question:

Will technology soon allow people to travel vast distanced in space?

There are some who violently oppose the notion of traveling to stars because they fiercely defend the notion that you cannot travel even the speed of light, and second there isn't enough energy in the universe to do that, and worm holes are pseudoscience.

Then there are those who know: "All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed, second it is violently opposed, and third, it is accepted as self-evident."

  1. I imagine it is highly unlikely that any type of "ship", i.e. a self-propelled container, could ever push itself through normal space well enough or long enough to deliver a human cargo to a destination as far away as the nearest stars. The hazards of space, not to mention the needs of biological organisms within the ship, would almost certainly prevent this.

By normal space I mean that the observed laws of physics are applicable, and that there is no dimensional change/folding etc. taking place. I assume that there might be the possibility of an as yet undiscovered way to manipulate these dimensions in such a way as to deliver perhaps non-biologic cargoes, but I wouldn't want to assume they will be safe for people.

Of course, since this is an as yet undiscovered solution, I am just speculating! I would point out that both successful and unsuccessful ideas may be opposed by the "establishment".

  2. I'm not sure how we would be able to keep enough fresh oxygen on- board to enable such long distance travel even traveling at light-speed.

  3. Worm holes are pseudoscience? So Einstein is pseudo scientist for you? Wormholes are much more possible than developing technology for traveling at speed of light.

There will be a technology for vast distance travel, but I am 100% sure it's not going to be travel relied on speed, simply because human organism barely survive 45 g, not to mention uncountable amounts of energy needed.

So luckily or unfortunately my friend, speed of light is not a solution.

  4. Maybe all those obstacles will be overcome some day. But not soon. It will be many, many years, if ever.
