im kinda dumb at this but i got this temporary hair color from hot topic and the company is color fiend. it is "water based". i dont really want to damage my hair. if you can, could you tell me what hair colors/dyes do damage hair so i know what to avoid. my hair type is quite healthy. i have never dyed it or colored it. its very shiny and i always use conditioner. the color of the hair color is red if it helps. oh and how good do you think it will show up? i have brown hair which is kinda on the darker side. i am only planning to use this hair color for a little bit of highlights. if you can help, then thanks! :)

  1. Don't use any products that have any kind of sulfates in them. They will dry out your hair, even if they say "moisturizing". I wouldn't go for hot topic hair color, but it will do fine.

  2. no it will not damage ur hair, i have used it and its fine

but u have dark brown hair like me so the dye's may not show up as much. i am trying purple rite now and it looks like its showing a lil ^^

but ive tried red and i didnt notice any change but u can try it for u hair ;]

  3. Basically hair dye doesn't damage your hair.. maybe a bit, but you'd never notice. Semi-permanent hair colors actually condition your hair, too.. The only thing that really can hurt your hair is bleaching too much.

Since you've never dyed your hair, whatever you do to it probably won't damage it at all. Especially not the hair dye you plan on using.

The red won't show up very much if your hair is dark brown.. it'll probably just be a red tinge to your hair.

  4. All hair dyes damage hair over an amount of time!
