  1. Setanta Sports has all USA television rights for the world cup.  The best thing to do besides spending the $200+ directv charges for a yearlong subscription would be to find a nearby pub or bar that has a subscription.  Most major cities have a few rugby bars that may charge a small admission fee to defray the cost, but $5 isn't a bad deal for multiple rugby matches, unfortunately most of the live matches are on in the morning before many bars are open, unless they are opening just for the matches.

Hopefully ESPN gets their head on straight and at least covers the highlights on sportscenter, I would think they would since it is the 3rd largest watched sporting event behind the Olympics and the World cup for pansies (Soccer).

If you're in a major city, talk to one of your higher level rugby clubs in the area and they will be able to point you in the right direction as far as a good place to watch.

  2. The World Cup coverage for America was bought by Setanta Sports

This means it will be available through DirecTV, but NOT Dish Network.  It will only be broadcast live.  Your best best is actually to find your local pub that will be showing the game.

    Another World Cup Option:

You could download the game and then watch them at a more convenient time. They give directions of how to hook your laptop up to your TV for better viewing. You can test out the system with the American games for Free!

  3. Yes Setanta only on direct t.v if you don't have direct t.v go to setanta.com and they show sports bars who have setanta and will be showing games

  4. I sure hope so, but somehow I dont think ESPN will be able to fit it in between poker and billiards

  5. Australia Network will cover the event too hopefully. If you don't have that on a sat tv network think you can have a look in their web site.
