Not sure.  But I agree with the above poster.  The 80 gig will be the same price as the 40 gig, which is $399.

NO, sony are hoping they will all be sold by time the 80gb model is released. So basically the 80gb model is just replacing the 40gb model as it will be the same price. It's a shame we wont be able to buy the 40gb model for a cheaper price instead though.

In fact, the new 80GB is the exact same model of PS3, at the exact same price, as the existing 40GB one - all they're doing is giving you a bigger hard drive for your money.

It's possible that the PS3s with only a 40GB drive will be sold off cheaply once the 80GB hits the shelves, but once they're gone, they're gone.

40GB is already out of production. New "core" 80GB is the same 40GB, for the same price, but with 80GB HDD.

What's the point? the upcoming 80GB will be the same price as the existing 40GB. Why do you want the 40GB? For sure there will be a lot of pre-owned 40GB available because people would want to upgrade.
