  1. No because there are already teams in trouble and they should just look after the teams that are already there

  2. For the expansion teams yes ........... for all other clubs NO

  3. **I don't think it will.  They've got several Victorian teams that are struggling at the moment and I think it'd be better if they concentrated on helping them before bringing more teams into the competition.

I know they say that ten teams can't survive in the AFL but I don't know that introducing new teams is really going to make that much difference.

I was on the Gold Coast recently and no one up there seemed to know anything about a new team being introduced up there.  I was so surprised as that was where all the marketing should be done etc.

The problem is it's all about money and TV.**

  4. No. It's really only for the license fee to ensure any struggling Victorian based team's survival. It's the only reason we have an AFL at all. WCE, Brisbane, Adelaide & Port Powers' license fee propped up an ailing VFL at first & then kept afloat clubs like Fitzroy (stayed alive 10 yrs too long) Hawthorn (on the up at last) and Melbourne (still struggling financially).Did I mention the Doggies & the Roos...

If the VFL of the day had the b*lls to cut loose the teams that were constantly unprofitable or were not financially responsible, the VFL would still exist and WCE, Adelaide, Brisbane & Port (the teams the Vic clubs b*tch about re: membership numbers, attendances, all round profitability & premiership cups moving away from Victoria) wouldn't.

Also, considering that League is more akin to a religious calling in NSW & Qld, it's unlikely another Qld team will draw fans away from a game that can actually put on a State of Origin game(s) and make them A. Profitable, B. Entertaining & C. The pinnacle of a players career in the minds of the players and the fans. The BEST face off against The BEST.What more could you ask for...

  5. No, because they AFL need to help struggling teams such as Melbourne and the Kangaroos before investing in new teams. I don't support the new franchises, and I think if there are going to be two new teams, they should be in Tasmania and the Northern Territory. The Gold Coast and West Sydney will not gain enough supporters since there are already AFL teams close by, and they are rugby dominated states. The AFL is making a huge mistake.

  6. Bring in Tasmania!!! The teams have been poaching players from there for long enough!

  7. I think it will increase interest in the other 'non-AFL' states. I think people from the Gold Coast and other parts of Queensland who don't already follow AFL would start to show interest in it. Likewise for Western Sydney and NSW.

But as other people have already stated, the AFL should think about helping the teams in need as well as looking to expand.
